export to DVD
Shooting a series of group therapy workshops, about 2 hours each, capturing files to Premier Pro 1.5. The files are about 14 gigabytes/hour in size (using 500G Western Digital external hard drive with fire wire connection). Dropping them into the time line and wanting to produce “check disks”(Is that the right term?) for review by group members. “Export to DVD” works, but is giving me rather dark, sometimes shaky product, and the DVDs do not work in my low-end DVD player (file hangs up about 2 minutes in). Windows Media Player and VLC 8.6 play the disks, but as I say, dark and sometimes shaky.
I’m using a compression setting that gives me a 3.63G file. (DVD capacity is of course 4.8G).Does anybody know what the problem might be?

That is not unusual…try a different media brand/type/plus/minus.

Comparing what to what? Does it look darker in Windows Media Player than Premier’s Program window? Is a TV involved? I dont know of any encoding process that changes luminance.
