Titles are graphics files that can contain shapes which are not ‘text file friendly’. Premiere only works with ‘media’ type files, e.g., EPS, TGA, PSD, JPS, AI, AVI, MOV….. The only way to save the titles as text files is to open each title, select the text, and then do a copy and paste the text into notepad.

    Dear mr. Baumchen,

Thank you so much for your answer. I will continue doing what I was doing, but still I think there should be an alternative.

Do you know: How whould I make the subtitles for a film that I have edited in Premiere, in a way that I can export the subtitles to a list with time code as well?

This should be an option right?
I hope to hear from you, so at least next time I won’t have this problem.

    Tony,

I think the only way to add sub titles to a sequence in Premiere is to create titles. Hoever, if the video you’re editing will be for DVD, then I would strongly suggest checking out Adobe Encore. It has the capability to add subtitles, (in numerous languages no less), that will make your life a LOT easier.

    Cheers.

If you want to subtitle, use a dedicated application for that.

    (start shameless plug)

Go to http://www.videoToolshed.com and download Subbits.
Do read the manual, and toy with it.
This way you can output to text, render titles with ease and work way, way faster…
I do not have build in real Premiere support at this moment, but with a macro and an EDL you should be able to put the renderet titles over your video in about 10 minutes or so.
I’ll look into premiere to see if there is a better way.

    (end shameless plug)
