Export Tests
Hey guys,
Been running some tests with some Canon 7D footage (1920×1080 24p) in FCP. I’ve used the Log and Transfer function to transcode to ProRes4444 (I know I should be using 422 HQ or LT) What is the cleanest workflow out of Final Cut to an .mov. I’ve tried the following with decent results:
QT Conversion to H.264 (Best Quality)
QT Conversion to ProRes 422 HQ
QT Conversion to ProRes 422
I do realize there is always the option of exporting as Self-contained QT then moving to Compressor, which I have not tried yet.The output files look fairly clean, but I was curious to know if they can be cleaner. And just to throw it out there, has anyone tried any .avi exports (we have clients that want to view on Windows machines and don’t have QT player)
There are probably other threads with this info but I can’t find any at this time.

The best option is exporting the sequence with the current setting.
Never use QT Conversion.
