I am having a problem using the DVC-Pro codec. My client wants to have a full 1920 x 1080 HD .mov using the the DVC-Pro codec. I have done this with Quicktime Conversion and Compressor. When looking at the final .mov in Quicktime Player the normal size is 1888 x 1062. That’s a loss of 32 pixels per line and 18 lines. My client has asked me why and for the life of me I can’t give an honest response. Does anyone know for sure why this is occurring? Thanks.

There is no such thing as full 1920×1080 DVCPRO HD. DVCPRO HD is an anamorphic format…and at 1080 it is 1280×1080. Trying to force it into dimensions it isn’t designed for can cause weirdness. If you want full 1920×1080, you need to export as ProRes or uncompressed HD.

Thanks Shane. I was wondering if DVC-Pro could not make 1920 x 1080, I just didn’t know why. Thanks again.
