Export Settings for mixed PAL SD/HD footage
Please forgive my novice! I need to export a video that is made of up of two totally different types of footage. One is 1920×1080, 25 fps, XDCAM EX 1080i50, field dominance is upper. The other is 720 x 576, 25fps, DV-PAL, field dominance is lower.
My sequence settings are 720×576 DV PAL (5:4), PAL — CCIR 601 (720×576), Compressor DV-PAL — basically they match the lower quality footage.
The file looks fine after I export it with all the current settings or using Vimeo’s guidelines, but once I upload it to Vimeo there are jagged, flashing lines (not interlacing) and general severe quality loss.
Any thoughts? Thank you!!

Normally when you drop some Upper First stuff on a Lower First sequence (or the other way around), FC automatically adds a “Shift-fields” filter to every clip that you bring to the time-line.
Double click any HD clip on the time-line and look in the Filters tab on the viewer.
You should find the filter there.
If not, you need to add it to all the HD clips.

Got it! Thanks! Yes, those have been applied to all the HD clips. But its actually the SD footage that seems to be giving me the most issues. You can see the flashing lines in the first five seconds of this draft
Do I need to export mixed footage a certain way or do I just default to the lowest common denominator? Thank you again for your help with this!!

I didn’t mentioned before because i don’t know which are the “Vimeo recommendation”, but every single thing that you make to be displayed on a computer must be de-interlaced. Computers display Progressive.
So if on the “to Vimeo” process you haven’t de-interlaced somewhere, you have to do it.
Probably the easier way is to change your sequence field order to NONE, and apply a de-interlacing filter to all the clips.

Thanks again for all your help! So I thought that that did the trick, but then I realized it plays different on my Mac vs my PC. The exported file itself plays fine on both computers, and the uploaded version plays fine on Vimeo and Youtube on my Mac. But, on my PC, the uploaded version has sort of strobe-like broken white lines in some of the footage. Any thoughts? And again, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help! I’m at a total loss.
