Export Settings Consensus
Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had any favorite/best known settings for exporting with Quicktime Conversion out of Final Cut Pro. I figured that was kind of vague, so more specifically.
I exported footage shot in 24Pa, in squeeze mode, on a DVX100B. I captured with DV NTSC 48khz Advanced Pulldown, and under the capture presets menu checked the anamorphic box. My sequence is a DV NTSC 48khz anamorphic at 29.97. ( I don’t know if there are any tricks or missed opportunities in those steps)
When I export out with the Quicktime Conversion I have been trying a few different options, but wanted to know if anyone had a consensus or favorite setting for capturing that type of footage that will keep good quality. The end video will be put on the web, but I’m just trying to get as a clean a look as possible.

I always Export a self-contained QT Using Current Settings then bring that file into Compressor, BitVice or Squeeze to make the final encode. IMHO it’s best to avoid using QuickTime Conversion.

Agreed about QT Conversion, but your timeline should be 23.98 not 29.97 if you captured with advanced pulldown.

Thank you very much for the advice. I don’t have too much experience with Compressor, which is why I avoid it most of the time. But better late than never to learn how to use it better. So I will work on that. Thanks John.
