I’m having serious problems exporting a 16×9 sequence to a 16×9 webfilm. I can’t seem to get a 16×9 .mov, tried all sorts of things but keep getting 4×3

    Tried these settings in Compressor:

    Quicktime 7 for download 300 Kb/s

First I just left everything at default, assuming Compressor will export the 16×9 sequence as a 16×9 QT movie.

Then I messed with the Inspector, consecutively:

    Frame Size: 50% of source

    Pixel Aspect: PAL Anamorphic

    Constrain to display aspect: 16×9

None of them played 16×9 when I played it in Quicktime. (Then I dragged it into iWeb, thinking it might be played as 16×9 there, but no go…)

What am I missing? Thanks very much for your help,

Well, with a H.264 setting, I can get anamorphic DV to come out 16:9 by setting the pixel aspect ratio to DV anamorphic, and constraining the aspect ratio to 16:9… Does this help?

Try exporting Using Quicktime Conversion, then click Options, then Size, then Custom Size. Enter your 16:9 numbers. I think that should work.

You’re GOLD, Jerry. And I must be an idiot… that must be the only option I didn’t use… But why doesn’t Compressor adapt the aspect ratio settings from the FCP sequence? It is not very user-friendly, is it?

Thanks (also to Kelmedia for pitching in- ‘there are more roads that lead to Rome’ is a Dutch saying, I’ll give yours a shot as well)

You can create a preset for this.. it’s just that Compressor doesn’t include one… after you setup the changes I posted, just save as… and it will be availalbe with a click from the custom presets folder in Compressor…
