    Hello,
its been a while, hope you are all well.

I’m working on a Mac Os9 (old I know but its a work horse and doesn’t let me down….much) and am at the moment having to send a lot of 30sec edits to my After Effects person. Some of the footage 16:9 or 4:3.

What is the best setting that doesn’t lose very much/none quaility in the transfer? I have been using ‘as source’ for both Video and audio, but the files seem to be very small 120mb etc and the quaility doesn’t seem very good.

    Ideas please.
    Thanks

Are you using QT same as source? That’s about the best you are going to get out of the Avid.
You also don’t say what resolution you are capturing at…

When your AE person gives it back, he should render the file using the animation CODEC – it works well.

    Sorry about the delay.

    I’m loading in footage 2:1.

I have used custom settings :no compression, million colours, 1024×576, size to fit, field order Odd. (not sure what this bit is about) 16:9 non-square. At this setting the file is massive, but am I wasting my time doing this and should use just ‘same as source’ which uses an Avid codec?
