Export quality is poor in HDV

What are the encoder settings? What is the content? How well lit is it? What factors make it “not look good?”

DVD is standard definiton and not High Definiton so it is dowsizing your HDV footage. After editing copy via firewire back to yoru camera or deck to HDV tape and use that to play your video back in HD
