I am trying to export a quicktime movie from my 24p NTSC project. The sound editors require a quicktime in DV codec for a visual reference. When I export from the Avid, my quicktime movies always come out with extra horizontal lines in the image. It looks a little like the scan lines in the image are all screwed up. I’m viewing this on a computer display. When I export a quicktime “Same as Source”, I get no additional horizontal lines. The image of the quicktime looks clean and just as good as in Xpress Pro.

    1. What is the resolution of Avid’s 14:1p OMF codec? Is it 720 X 486? What is the field-dominance? Is that causing some kind of incompatibility with the Apple DV NTSC codec, which is 720 X 480, lower field first?

    2. Can you recommend any work arounds to get a DV codec movie to give to the sound editors?

    My system:

    Mac Dual 1.8 GHz G5
    2 GB of RAM
    Mac OS X v 10.4.3
    Avid Xpress Pro v. 4.8.2.2640
    Avid Mojo
    QuickTime Pro v. 7.0.3
24p NTSC Avid Film Project using 14:1 Avid Compression
    Avid Unity Media Storage
Digitizing on separate workstation: Avid MC Adrenaline on Windows platform
