    Hi Herd,

I’ve just finished 2 spots for a satellite channel – their deliverables are MPG2 files. No problem so far.

From my timeline – ProResHQ PAL SD, digitised from Beta SP via Blackmagic Multibridge, all looks well. Basic CC done in 3-way, with subtitles done in DH_Subtitle filter and caps with the text tool.

All looks fine and dandy. HOWEVER, when I export using Self Contained movie, the luma levels go to pot. Specifically, anything ‘under’ a subtitle looks washed out – maybe a 20% rise in luma. Soon as the subs are gone, it pops to the correct level. This is when viewed in Quicktime Player. Import the same movie back into FCP and it looks fine…

Soooo, am I being a complete numpty or is something amiss in my combo – 10.4.11/FCP6.05/QT7.6?

Is it a quicktime player quirk – ‘Ahh yes, they all do that Sir…’

As always, your thoughts, brickbats and erudite answers are greatly appreciated…

    Jason
