Export paths from Illustrator to 3d application for extrusion…
(Sigh)
I did this several months ago and now my brain is just completely failing me…
I am attempting to export a file of a cross-section from Illustrator (I need a v8 .ai file, or an .eps) to extrude in Carrara. I can’t remember how I saved the file out to get rid of the bounding box. Currently I’m loading the .ai file and Carrara sees the bounding box as part of the vector info and of course, the object isn’t coming out correctly.
I’ve searched both pdf help files and can’t seem to jog my memory…
Can someone help this idiot with this very basic hangup?

In Illustrator, you may want to go into “Outline” view to make sure there is no “invisible” vector box around the bounds of your object. There may in fact be one that you are unaware of simply because of how it is colored in “Preview” view.

Thank you very much…that was the ticket. I use Photoshop much more than Illustrator in video production and I know enough about Illustrator to be dangerous…mostly to myself.
I appreciate a quick answer to what I am sure is a painfully simple question.
