Hello girls and gals, I haven’t had the opportunity to post in here in a long time, so I guess thats a good thing. But now I’ve ran in to a problem that I’ve tried trouble shooting.

Ok, in the past I had to export the project out as a Quicktime file, then import it into my Adobe Premiere, render it, then export it out as a MPEG there, then import it out to Adobe Encore to burn a DVD. The quicktime file in Avid seemed to be the easiest, but I wanted to try exporting out as a MPEG from Avid.

I tried all the Codecs, but nothing has worked so far. The best picture I received was using the Full Uncompressed codec. But it won’t allow me to complete the file. An error message pops up that reads: Exception: Maximum size of AVI file has been reached. File may not be complete.

I have the Avid Express 4.6 on a PC. External hard drive, and 1 GB RAM.

    Please help.

    Melvin –

We tried that for a while, but we found a conflict with Premiere and the newer version of QT. Now, we export a QT reference into Sorenson, and burn it using Reel DVD. We don’t author, just first play stuff.

I’ve never liked the way Avid exports anything other than QT. I don’t even bother trying. The reference file is small and uses the original OMFI file as a reference.

Here’s a great (link https://www.videoguys.com/XDVtips.html#squeeze) from the Avid forums that has excellent starting points on getting from one to the other…

Thanks. Yeah Quicktime is the only one that doesn’t disturb the picture. What QT Reference settings do you use? And what settings do you use in Sorenson?

Check out that link I posted. It has all the settings, step by step. Just remember, those are starting points. You’ll need to do a couple of tests to zero in on what works best with your process.

    HAVE FUN!

Thanks, it works, I appreciate it. This process is much easier.
