  • Export issues with 10bit uncompressed

While experimenting with the new and amazing AJA io HD, i captured a large amount of Beta SP footage into FCP 6.0.1 with the 10bit uncompressed codec. Don’t yell at me for not using Pro Res, again i was experimenting but i probably should have experimented with a project of less importance. Anyway, i’m stuck at the export. When i export a self contained, i get one fcp ref accompanied by multiple av.mov refs. I don’t get this issue with a non self contained. Will the non self contained work in Compressor? My objective is to get this 10bit hour and half timeline to DVD.

Could you not export directly via compressor? Saving creating the self contained movie in the first place?

    File>Export>Using Compressor.

It’s a work around for the time being – but isn’t resolving your issue….

Yes, the non-self contained will work in Compressor.

What type of drive were you exporting the self-contained QT to? I’m curious as to why it resulted in the ref movie. Any ideas on that?

I’m not used to dealing with a data rate of more than the standard NTSC/DV (3.6mb/s), so i saved it to a 4tb Raid 0 Sata. I’m working a encode in Compressor right now, we’ll see if it works. Prob gonna take a while

Just checking. Your RAID is formatted for Mac OS and not something like FAT-32? Sounds like it might be breaking your exported movie up into smaller pieces to fit on the drive.
    Just a thought.

No it’s OS formatted, i’ve been able to capture large amounts of video in one swoop.
