Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy Export issues

I just purchased the Sorenson Squeeze 6 after being continually disappointed with the quality of HD to SD encoded files in compressor in Final Cut Pro 7.
The new problem is that when I try to create a DVD ready file in Final Cut, exporting a quicktime movie with squeeze, it encodes a MPG file. This file is not recognized by DVD Studio Pro – the M2V files which are created directly in squeeze are of course fine.
Any way to export a MPV file while still in Final Cut, utilizing squeeze??
This will save a step in the process, not needing to export a quicktime reference movie, which of course when working with long format material saves a ton of drive space as well as time.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Don’t have squeeze but what are your settings. mpeg2 has a bunch of uses, one being for DVD others not being for DVD.

DVD is a very defined spec so you have to encode the video correctly or DVDSP will not use it.

Why are you wanting a MPV file, this is not compatible with DVD and is highly compressed.

Squeeze will export M2V not MPV. M2V is compatible with DVD Studio Pro but what I was looking to do in Squeeze is export an MPEG2 file. Being that you’re not familiar with the program, I’m hoping someone else may have some insight. Thanks anyway for your post.
