Export impossible
Posted by Philippe Verdoni on April 16, 2025 at 3:31 pmIn Adobe Premiere Pro 2023, I’m unable to export a sequence, but if I copy and paste all the elements from that sequence into a new sequence, the new sequence exports without any problems.
I notice that the only difference between these two sequences is the color of the line at the top of the timeline:
• The line is green in the sequence that doesn’t export,
• The line is yellow in the sequence that exports without difficulty.
This is surprising because the green line normally means the sequence is ready for export, while the yellow line indicates that the sequence may not be optimal and that rendering is recommended.

April 16, 2025 at 3:41 pmOthers may come after me for saying this and others may have better answers, but my suggestion is don’t worry about it unless it continues to happen. It might just be something about that particular sequence (with the green rendered line) that is hinky. One thought – after you exported the yellow line sequence, did you try rendering it to a green line to see if it would “go green” and if you could export from the sequence or if the problem repeated? I’ve found more than a few issues that have easy work-arounds, and unless they recur and cause more problems I don’t have time to worry over them. For example, Media Encoder often has a naming issue and tries to name my export after a previous export, not the name of the current sequence. I just go in and change the name. Problem solved. Good luck and let us know what happens or if you have further issues.

April 16, 2025 at 4:14 pmHi Dennis,
in the yellow line sequence (the one which was working fine) I have launched the command “Sequence/ Rendering from the beginning to the end”. The export works correctly as before.
I have launched the same command in the green line sequence (the one which was not working) the export did not work as before.

April 16, 2025 at 5:08 pmThe settings of both sequences are identical except the “Automatic mapping of medias tones” that is uncheked for the sequence which works fine; however unchecking this parameter in the bad sequence does’nt solve the problem.

June 27, 2025 at 9:37 amI’m not sure what you mean by “unable to export” but I’m having an issue with one particular project in PPro (version 25.4; beta or release; I also tried 25.3 – same bug): I cannot export anything at all from within the project – however I try to export a sequence, nothing happens (I can right-click it in the Project panel, do Export Media…, or ctrl-M…..nothing happens at all and I can continue working in PPro. The ONLY way to export something is to drag the project icon, in Windows Explorer, into Media Encoder and select the sequences to export there.).
This is combined with another bug (opening more than one sequence causes the Sequence panel to become totally unresponsive and/or blank) as I outlined here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-beta-bugs/opening-a-specific-project-then-opening-2-sequences-empties-ppro-s-timeline-panel/idi-p/15380238
Has anyone else encountered these bugs lately? Any cures?

Opening a specific project, then opening 2+ sequences empties PPro's timeline panel
I recently reported a memory error here: https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects-beta-bugs/unable-to-allocate-memory-error-is-back/idc-p/15374338#M1261 ...and that error then morphed into a much worse one where a specific project would cause PPro's timeline to become empty if I opened more than...

June 27, 2025 at 2:23 pmNot the same one, but in some projects, I have the export doesn’t start problem. I start the export, but nothing happens until I wait for a very long time. Nothing indicates that it will start. And if I get bored and restart the Premiere and try to export again, this time it exports in no time.
And similar to the other issue, again, not always, when I open two projects at the same time, I may lose the first project in the bin, never find the bin, I only see the second project bins.

June 28, 2025 at 11:39 pmHey Philippe and All,
Yes, Adobe PPro in the latest “pay-as-You-Go A.I.” versions are programmed for the purpose of supporting the sales and product marketing departments of their competitors. Having said that, I have not tried the latest PPro version, as I am busy learning Davinci and Avid, until Adobe starts caring, they are for the scrap-heap.
For what it is worth: I’ve noticed that the render out of PPro sometimes does not start because it can not initialise the Audio export, which it likes to do first.
A reboot, or writing angry messages in the Grey Adobe Crash Report form before it reboots, tend to do it for me.At worst, I export Audio out to uncompressed Wav, and import into project for insertion in to the sequence.
I am sure that there is other weird ways that Adobe have dreamt up to stop us using their professional tools, all for the sake of getting everybody on to Adobe Express…
Hope is that eventually Adobe might actually communicate with users, unless they are waiting for the UK CMA to dictate an A.I. “kill-switch” (switch off Generative and/or utility A.I.) for users to use across all Adobe apps that uses A.I. – imagine how that will improve our working lives…
One opinion for why your exports freeze up.
