I edited a HDV sequence in Final Cut Pro 5. Now I need to give it to an Avid system, all they have to do is playback. It was exported as HDV 1080i60. When they put it on thier PC desktop all they get is a white screen on the quicktime with audio. Is there a way to export from FCP to a standard file PCs will be able to play? Would DVCPro HD be a viable option?

The DVCPRO HD won’t work as the Mac Quicktime format for that isn’t readable by PCs either….or Macs without FCP for that matter.

The Animation Codec will work, but makes HUGE file sizes..

    Shane,

Thanks for responding. If I export it as an uncompressed 8-bit sequence, will I lose quality? I did a test clip and it played on the PC. I don’t have a PC avid to test it on, but it played fine on the PC as a quicktime file.

But if Animation will be the best way to play it back on an avid system, I will just do it like that.
