    Hello guys!

I am stuck…. my friends and I are working on a movie and I am doing all the modeling in C4D. We want to export the environments I made to maya… I don’t even care about the textures at this point. I can export really simple things like singular objects but every time I try to export a house, a bridge, or any of my architectural models as an wavefront obj it refuses to let me open it in maya. Suggestions?

    Really appreciate your help!

Not sure why that would be, but if you can’t get it to work I’d try exporting in Collada or FBX format.

I tried that to no avail. I make a model in c4d. hit export as wavefront obj or one of the other settings. then right click that file on my desktop and hit open with maya. Is there anything I’m forgetting/ doing wrong? I have no experience with exporting/ importing.

Thanks so much for your help.

Unfortunately I don’t have experience with Maya, but I provide Maya users with Cinema objs and fbx files and they haven’t had any problems with them. Is it possible that you may have to import to the objects into Maya rather than opening them directly? In other words you may need to use File>Import rather than File>Open.

Just tried that. Sadly it still says “Error reading file.” Currently I’m trying to reinstall Cinema 4D. I’ll let you know if that works. Thanks again!
