My final movie for the web is 35.8 MB. Isn’t that kinda big to ask a client or employer to download my demo reel?

I would like to get it down to between 15 to 18 MB. What export settings would you recommend?

From Final Cut Express HD 3.0 I have exported a movie with these specs:

    Duration: 1 minute, 43 seconds

    Video
    Compression: Sorenson Video 3
    Quality: Medium
    Frame rate: 15
    Key frame rate: 24
    Bitrate: 6400 kbits/sec

    Width: 320 Height: 240

    Sound
    Format: IMA 4:1
    Sample rate: 24 khz
    Sample size: 16
    Channels: 2

Prepare for Internet Streaming (box checked)
    Fast Start (selected)

What is the best settings to use in Final Cut for exporting to the web?

What is the best settings to use in Final Cut for exporting to full resolution highest quality without wasting file space for a final edit/composite archive?

Is it best to use another program like Cleaner?

You datarate is way way too high (that up there with MPEG-2 DVD datarates). You could easily get away with 1000kbit/s or less at that frame size.

I’d also advise you to increase you keyframe rate to 150 and I’d also experiment with 30fps.

To put it into perspective, apple encode their movie trailers at approx 720kbit/s.
