  • Export as Quicktime with XDCAM codec?

Posted by Mark Norgate on March 18, 2014 at 10:29 am

I’ve been requested to deliver as a quicktime file with the XDCAM codec. So I’ve transcoded my sequence at XDCAM50 and tried to export but get the ‘can’t export long GOP’ message. So followed advice and did mixdowns for the sequence (still at XDCAM 50) and tried exporting that as same as source but still get the same result.

I’m on PC, and can imagine this would be easier on a mac. How can I achieve this? Is it doable straight of out of the Avid?
Will sorenson or similar be able to do this?

    Thanks in advance

This problem is due to a limitation of the codec XDCAM in QT on Windows.
The best option is to export an MXF (OP-1a) directly from the Export menu.
If you need a QT of this, you can convert MXF in QT with Ffmbc in windows.
