Export
Posted by Brad Williams on July 8, 2010 at 6:28 pmI have a question. I am trying to export a HD file out of Final Cut. It is in HDV 720P 30. The file size needs to be at 700 mb or less for web video hosting. I tried to use Compressor but it said it would take 7 hours to render. It is a 30 minute video. Any ideas ?

What settings in compressor? You don’t say.

Depending on what you are compressing to…it might take that long. And the HDV format adds to this time, as it is a processor intensive format. But it all depends on a) what format are you converting to? b) What computer are you using to do this conversion? Processor speed? c) What are you converting from (this we know…HDV). d) Is it fully rendered before you started the conversion. If not, then it renders as it converts, and that adds time.

July 8, 2010 at 6:40 pmI was told to use H.264 with I think the 600 bits per second setting. It is a Mac Pro Quad Core 2.26. I shot it on a JVC Gy-110 HD as 720P 30. yes, fully rendered.

July 8, 2010 at 7:24 pmExport a reference movie first, then bring that movie in to Compressor. Don’t > Send to> Compressor.
