Export 5.1 Surround Sound From Final Cut Pro
Posted by Chan Chung ming on February 24, 2009 at 2:58 ami wanna export a .mov file from fcp, i used QuickTime conversion to do that, the format i used to Apply Prores 422, but why i can’t choose the audio setting is 5.1? I had set my audio sequence to dual mono already.

February 24, 2009 at 9:39 amHow do you expect FCP to create a 5.1 mix and encode from a dual mono timeline? If you have the discrete tracks needed in FCP (because you’ve already done a surround mix), then make sure the sequence settings specifiy (say) 6 audio outputs, all dual mono.
It would be very difficult, however, to create a discrete 5.1 audio mixdown in FCP as there are no surround panning options.
If you want to create a 5.1 mix for output, use Soundtrack Pro. It’s a great surround mixing option, and can output the audio files you need for any use. I export Dolby AC-3 files directly from there to use on DVD or Blu-Ray, and export the video from FCP to match.

February 25, 2009 at 3:27 amMy audio tracks is a final mix, finally i have 8 tracks in timeline, but i had set the sequence all output is dual mono, I don’t know why i can’t choose the sound setting is 5.1 in the export setting, even i choose any format in Sound setting, the channels setting just show me mono and Stereo(L R) I can used.
