I hope these suggestions help you export your 4K project using proxies in Avid Media Composer.
- Choose the right export settings: In the Export Settings window, choose the H.264 codec and set the resolution to 1920×1080 (or 1280×720 if you want to reduce the file size even further). Also, set the data rate to around 10-15 Mbps for a good balance of quality and file size.
- . Use Avid’s Proxy Workflow: Avid has a built-in Proxy Workflow that allows you to easily switch between high-resolution and low-resolution versions of your media. To enable it, go to Settings > Media Creation and check the “Create Proxy Media” box. Once you’ve created proxies, you can switch to them in the Source Browser by selecting the “Proxy” tab.
- Use the FrameFlex tool: If you’ve already created proxies, you can use Avid’s FrameFlex tool to scale your 4K footage down to 1080p for export. Simply select your clip in the timeline, go to the FrameFlex tab in the Source Settings window, and set the Frame Size to 1920×1080. You can then export your sequence as normal.
- 4. Test your export settings: Before exporting your entire sequence, try exporting a short clip using your chosen export settings to make sure the quality is acceptable. You can also try adjusting the data rate to see how it affects the file size and quality.
