I have Abobe Premiere Pro CS4. I have been trying to compress the videos I have taken for an online class. I would like to export as a quicktime movie. The best compression rate I got was 42.1MB for a 30 second movie which is not such good quality. I used the motion Jpeg B to compress. The video is being imported as MPG.

    1. Is there a way to set the imported vidoes to a medium resolution as I import them?

    2. I need to get the video under 10MB how can I do this? Do I have to preset as I choose a new project?

    Thanks so much,

    Shulamis

Export your quicktime movie using these settings:

    compression – H.264
    quality – medium
    keyframe – automatic
    frame reorder – no
    encoding – multi-pass
    data rate – automatic

With these settings I was able to compress a 2GB hi-definition, 30 sec commercial down to 6.01MB. Always import your files at full quality and only compress them (if they aren’t already, sadly MPEGs are) when you know how small you need to make them.
