I am almost finished with adding explosions to a model of a volcano.
On static shots I have no problems.
However when the explosions are added to a moving shot of the crater and I want the explosion to move with the craters motion I am meeting problems.
If I only move the emitter along the track – the particles don’t follow…
I guess I need to somehow get everything to move together.
If anyone understands what I mean…… can you give me some advice or even point me to a tutorial which explains the technique.
I am sure it is quite a simple task and probably has been covered before….. but I couldn’t find the answer by searching the forum.

    Replying to myself!

After studying Elvis Deane’s Guide to ParticuleIllusion 3 – Offset chapter. I got things figured out.

But now I found a new problem?
Making the offsets for the different explosions I had to use Layers (4 in all).
When rendering the final sequence I only get Layer 0 visible in the rendered avi.
What is the next basic thing I am missing? How do you get all layers to render together?
Sorry for such basic and simple questions.

Yet again I seem to be answering my own question…..

Am I correct in assuming I must have the top layer active when I save the project?

It looks like I had layer 0 active….and got only layer 0 when I renedered……. but if I have layer 4 active and on top … then all layers from 4 down are present when rendering.

Are you just using different layers of emitters? Then it shouldn’t matter which is active when saved — they all should show on the stage and when rendered.

It could be a bug — what version are you using?

Can you describe the project in more detail? Can you get the problem to happen with a simpler project (2 layers)?

    Alan.

    Thanks for the reply,
    I have version 3.0.3 18Dec 2007 installed.

I will not have time until tomorrow to do some more tests.

What details would you like about the project?
I will make a few screen shots too.

    Alan,
I was unable to reproduce the problem!
Hopefully it was just the result of a tired computer….. or, more likely, a tired computer operator.
If it resurfaces I will try and document the steps more precisely.
