Exploring Audio Recording Options
Posted by Mike Fox on February 27, 2012 at 6:18 pmWhat is an ideal device that captures audio for video projects? We’re looking for something that captures audio and stores info on a memory card. Any suggestions would be helpful.

February 27, 2012 at 6:27 pmThat is perhaps a more open-ended question than you realize.
How many channels? What is your budget?A generic answer would be that anything on the SoundDevices website is ideal for one type of production or another. And there are other brand names up there at the summit like Zaxcom, Aaton, Nagra, et.al. But be prepared with a big pile of money if that is where you are going.
OTOH, there are many low-end devices that are quite serviceable. and they will cost you an order of magnitude less $$$ than the high-price spread.

February 27, 2012 at 6:28 pmHello Mike and welcome to the Cow Audio Forum.
There are many devices to do that. Some with timecode, some without.
My favorite is the Sound Devices 744T. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/325631-REG/Sound_Devices_744T_744T_4_Channel_Portable_Audio.html/BI/8631/KBID/9745. It’s a 4-tr hard drive recorder with time code.
