    Sorry the link didn’t work for me, but I can suggest playing around with either Particle Playground or Foam. You’d need to place your3D objects comp in another composition then apply those effects and see what you get. There’s some excelent tutorials here at the cow that can talk you through them

    Alternatively, you could check out this tutorial by Dan Ebberts about using expressions to create explosions in 3D space.
