I’m wondering why AJA has no setup for 720p 29.97. That got me to wondering about 59.94, and where I could find a decent white paper explaining how and why it works.

Does it have fields? or is it like turning 29.97 fields into frames say with Fields Kit?

    Anyone?

    Have a wonderful day.

720 is always progressive. The standard frame rates of 59.94P and 50P are equivalent to 59.94i and 50i in 1080 or 29.97i and 25i in SD. Essentially, when you go from these other formats to 720, each field becomes a full frame.

    Hey Arnie,

So my deinterlace example was essentially correct then. Thanks!

Kinda. 59.94p is temporally double that of 29.97i. What you are proposing is not a deinterlace but more a line double using the information of the interlaced stream.
