At the suggestion of someone here, I got a utility called Coctail to maintain the OS, can anyone explain what journaling means, and why or why not to use it?

    Thanks.

    Have a wonderful day.

A journaling file system is a file system that logs changes to a journal (usually a circular log in a specially-allocated area) before actually writing them to the main file system … so, for example, if there was a power outage during a write operation, on reboot, the system needs only check that the main filesystem and journal are in sync (and if they’re not it can resync by applying the changes as per the journal)
