Expected CPU Utilization
I am using Vegas 8.0 Pro and am a bit dissapointed on it’s usage of more CPU cores. I have an Intel Q6600 quad core processor 50% overclocked and stable. I never see Vegas use more than 35-40% of the four cores at anytime. We are talking even a standard DV AVI file being rendered to Sony YUV Codec with no plugins, 8-bit color. Nothing special in that, however I have seen on the net people wrongly using Vegas to test max CPU usage. Won’t get into why this is wrong, not an overclocking forum. 🙂 However it shows that someone is maxing their cores. Those were dual core CPU’s, not quad, however if it supports quad it should utilize them to the best it can. Also hard drive being used is two 750GB WD (very fast) raid 0 together and the CPU light is flickering, not solid usage light.
As an FYI from Vista task manager, memory is 57% in use, hard drives are 14% of max thru-put.
Any clue if I need to tweak things or if Vegas just doesn’t like quads?
Thanks.
