I am editing with another editor on a 4 video project and we have decided to both log all the interview footage with markers in the clips to denote particular comments. this is a new practice for me as I would usually use subclips.

I was hoping that when you drag a marker from the project window to the timeline, there would be a clip that I could freely manipulate, but have discovered that you cannot pull the length out longer than the lengtth it gives you. (i.e. I cannot drag the clip out to show the director if there was another comment after the selection)

Can anyone tell me why they would add this obstacle to final cut?

Place your playhead of the marked clip in the timeline

    Press: Command + Option + F

This loads the entire clip into the viewer with the playhead corresponding to the marked clip in the timeline.
