  • Exisitng Compound Clip Behavior when upgrade from 10.04 to 10.06

Posted by Phil Coulloudon on November 5, 2012 at 8:19 pm

    Hi,
How are Existing Compounds treated when upgrading from 10.04 projects into 10.06? I do see that the twirl down in upper left of clip is not there. Right click is only way I see to open a compound created in previous version and brought forward.

But what about the impact on project size/performance and the blade results? Will existing compounds benefit from the new way compounds are treated? Copy / Paste / Blade, etc.

    Thanks,

    -phil

It does not upgrade pre-existing compounds. In order to get FCPX to treat them in the new fashion, you should break open your current compounds and then make them again.

I haven’t done any complex editing with compounds yet, but from what I understand, the issues when blading them should be fixed.

    Thanks for the reply….

So I assume performance issues will remain until I break apart pre-existing compounds and create new ones?

Hmmm, ok thanks. I have at least a couple 20min projects that contain lots of compounds which need to be brought forward to 10.06. Seems I need to set aside some time to conform.

I am no longer able to break apart compound clips in 10.0.6, this is an issue as I sometimes keep music on the timeline and need to cut to the beats. Anyone having this issue as well?
