Exclude effects on a layer within a composition
I have just completed a large project involving a few thousand layers and nearly 100 precomps. The client has just requested a global color shift—which would normally be no problem.
However, it is a problem—because this spot contains video footage all throughout the piece that (obviously) needs to be excluded from the color shifting. Is there any way to force a layer within a comp (or deep within many comps) from receiving any effects? Even if that effect is on its parent composition?
I know there are other solutions involving duplicating my comps and basically separating out the video from the rest of the footage. But if you saw my project file, you’d see why that’s almost laughable. Plus, god forbid the client needs to edit the animation and now I’m making the adjustments across multiple comps.
I can’t find any solutions out there… would love it if someone had some insight!
