Provided your motherboard and version of Windows x64 supports it, yes. Given the low cost of RAM nowadays, I would recommend installing between 12-16 GB.
It will not improve your workflow per se, but it will make swapping between programs speedier, plus you can run multiple instances of Vegas if needed. e.g. recently I was able to simultaneously render 3 x 60 minute HDV projects using 2 pass VBR render settings on my system.
My system specs: Intel i7 970, 12GB RAM, ASUS P6T, Vegas Pro 10 (x32/x64), Windows 7 x64 Ultimate, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
