Exchange (Import) simple projects from external applications to Motion

Well I am quite new with motion, so let me try to explain the scenario:

We have some external contributors making simple video editings (interviews with fades) using standard video editors for Pcs such as Avid or Edius that we need to get into Motion (5,5,3) for future use. and we wonder wich way we could get their projects, even through edl, xml or csv files translations…

I am not sure but are you thinking of importing a whole sequence into Motion?

My understanding is that Motion works as a contributor to an NLE.
