    Hi all,

Recently I my computer died and I had to get a new system (I love warranties!), but this time when I installed avid, it always stops its start up process and initializing audio. An error pops up that says “Exception: Failed to Initialize audio hardware.” On my last computer Avid worked flawlessly with Soundblaster Audigy 2, however, my new computer came with SoundBlaster X-FI, and it does not seem to get along with it. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Thanks,

    John

If your system came from a qualified Avid dealer make him fix it.

Didn’t think it did :-D, so… make sure the SB card is set as the preferred playback/record device. And check the bios to make sure no onboard audio cards are enabled. You may also be able to disable onbaoard cards within “Device Manager”. If none of the above work, you may want to borrow or buy a $27 Audigy and try it.
