  • Excalibur (great) question: assigning custom-made buttons to scripts

Posted by Barend Jasper on February 1, 2006 at 2:20 pm

    Ladies, gentlemen,

I’m really enyoing Excalibur (4.6), editing some shows we shot. It makes life a lot easier! I have one question though: I’m making new cameras/scripts and I would like to assign some buttons I made myself and put those in the toolbar. How do I do this?

Thanks a million in advance. I apologise if this question has been answered recently before in this forum.

You will have to create your own custom buttons if you want them to appear on the toolbar. Here’s how you do that:

Create a new image 16 wide by 32 tall. The top 16×16 will be what you see on the toolbar. The bottom 16×16 will be what you see when you hover the mouse over the button.

If you have created say a 2 second dissolve and the new camera file is named:

    Cam1d2-00.js

Then save the image in PNG format as:

    Cam1d2-00.js.png

(i.e. the FULL camera name plus “.png” added)

Thanks a million Edward. I’m very pleased that I can make my own buttons, it’ll make life a lot simpler than it already is, thanks to Excalibur.

Another question is the following: I noticed a few times that after a hour of editing, the buttons dissapear. However, if I hover with my mouse over the toolbar, the small yellow pop-up ‘balloon’ appears and I can click on the ’empty’ button. So, the scripts still work, but I simply can’t see the original buttons. Any idea how to make them appear again?

    Thanks,

    Barend Jasper

That’s a Vegas issue. Try this:

Tools – Scripting – Rescan Script Menu Folder

That will hopefully bring them back.
