EX3/FCP/Matrox MXO Workflow
Hey Kids…
I am waiting for my new EX3 to arrive. In the meantime I am (practicing) working with the footage on the Vortex Media “Test Drive” DVD with a variety of XDCAM EX footage.
I have no problem getting the footage ported into FCP through the Sonly Log and Capture plug in…the problem is I have not been able to figure out how to monitor the footage in the timeline through my MXO box. I have tried everything I can think of and no joy. I know the MXO works OK since I just finished a project (in SD) and it worked fine.
I am baffled. Any of you MXO mavens have any suggestions. I have a couple of jobs starting as soon as the camera arrives and I’d like to get the workflow down.

Well, you need to set the VIEW>VIDEO PLAYBACK to match the footage you shot, or have. If it is 1080i 29.97 (59.94), then choose the MXO 1080i 29.97 10-bit (or is XDCAM 8 bit?) or 8-bit playback. Then choose VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.

I should have mentioned I am monitoring by going out of the Mac Pro through the MXO to a 23″ ACD

There is a lot of different formatted footage on this TEST Drive DVD…I just had to dig out the format and match it.
