    Hi

When working with footage form the EX1 or EX3 I am accustomed to using Sony XDCam transfer to import footage into my machine and then simply dropping the converted media files into FCP. Its a painless and reliable process form what I’ve found.

However I have heard there is a process that avoids this and you can import footage from the card direct into FCP using log/transfer. Can someone explain to me exactly how to do this and if I need to install any plugins for FCP?

    thank you

We have these cameras at my work and I just ingested from an SxS card yesterday for the first time. It was real easy.

FIrst you want to back up the original file structure of the SxS card to a hard drive / LTO / blu-ray / whatever/

Then you want the Log and Transfer software from Sony:

    https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/micro-xdcamexsite/resource.downloads.bbsccms-assets-micro-xdcamex-downloads-LogTransferUtilityAppleFCP.shtml

Then all you have to do is open FCP and go to File > Log and Transfer. Yesterday, the media mounted automatically. If it doesn’t for you, there is a button in the top right corner of the window that looks like a folder with a plus sign on it. Click on it and locate your media.

Also, I am working with FCS2. I’m not sure if it’s different with FCS/FCP7. I doubt it is though.
