We’re going to shoot an event with several EX3 cameras. We’d like to equip 2 of them with longer lenses, so we can shoot speeches from the rear of the room. There will only be about 200 people, so we don’t need real big sports lenses. Can someone give me suggestions?

    Thanks.

If you rent the Fujinon ACM-21, 2/3rds lens adapter and a nice ENG 2/3rds HD lens you will get beautiful long lens shots.

    I have this adapter.

We use EX3’s and ACM-21’s with 2/3″ lenses (Fujinon HA23x) all the time with great results. See pic below. We can often get away with using the 23x lens on the EX3 instead of a box lens on a 2/3″ camera. For most ‘event’ type coverage this works fine. The main thing is having a good tripod and pan/tilt head and a zoom demand is useful too. Even better, set it up ‘OB style’ with a large viewfinder and zoom/focus/iris controls.

Our EX3’s are set up on EXMounts (https://www.exmount.com) which we also manufacture – which allows better balance adjustment on VCT-14 tripod plates – and we can add other accessories (mattboxes, followfocus, radio mic rx, external recorders etc).
