EX3 Focus Assist-Screen Green flicker
Is the green screen flicker going and and out of focus assist on an EX3 normal? I’ve used a lot of rentals and can’t remember. I’m setting up a new EX3 (my own) and was curious if this is normal or maybe a little issue with the viewfinder screen.

I bought an ex-demo ex3 and have the same green flickerings.Thanx in advance.

My original EX1 did the same thing a couple of times but rebooting the camera took care of it. My present EX3 and EX1R don’t have the issue (so far). I never investigated because the few times it happened wasn’t a big deal for me.
Is your EX3 doing this on a regular basis?

The Sony tech at Able Cine said it was normal. I haven’t thought about it since. It has been a good camera. The only issue I have had with my EX3 was that I tried the auto flicker reduce setting when overseas to see if it would cut down on 50 hz light flicker. It didn’t really help and I forgot to turn it off. Outside it made a mess of a couple of contrasty shots. Turned it off and haven’t had that issue again.

The camera has it regularly (have it one week).
I going back to the store today to let sony examine the issue and update the firmware.
The firmware is 1.02 and i have been told that only sony can update from version (1.02 – 1.04)
I’ll keep you posted on the outcome.
luckily I added the 2+2 year warranty to the product so it shouldn’t cost me extra.

UPDATE:
My EX3 has been sent to sony to fix the green flickerings, firmeware update (from 1.02) and the front shoe-mount (slightly loose).
When it comes back from repair I’ll keep you posted.

My EX3 has firmware 1.10. There is only a mili-second of green flicker when switching into focus assist.
