EX3 720p24/60 not playing slow mo?
I asked my camera operator to shoot some slow-mo overcrank shots at 720p24/60. Now I’m in edit, and Log and Transfer brought in the overcrank shots at 720p59.94. The bit rate is 35Mb/s.
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t shooting 24/60 crank up the bit rate to 85Mb/s? If so, did my shooter just shoot at plain 720p60? Because Final Cut is playing back these clips at normal speed, despite dropping them into my 23.98 timeline.
I have figured out that I can change the codec on these 60p shots and convert them to 23.98 in Cinema Tools, but my understanding is that A) I SHOULDN’T HAVE TO do this, and B) my bit rate is less than optimal, resulting in less than optimal slow-mo picture.
So did my shooter screw up? Or am I importing this footage wrong?
Any help, info, or advice would be appreciated.

Just dropping 720p60 footage into a 23.98 timeline doesn’t instantly make it slow motion. No, what that will do is play normal speed, with frames removed. And doing the speed change (CMD-J) won’t do the proper speed change either.
To make this footage slow motion, you need to convert it to a non-GOP format, like ProRes (because you can’t perform this operation with GOP formats), and use CINEMA TOOLS to CONFORM the footage to 23.98.

If the footage doesn’t play in slow motion is because your cameraman did it wrong.
When you record 720p20/60, you end up with a p24 file (slow motion) without audio.
As you points, the file is recorded at around 85Mbps, but on play is standard 35 Mbps.
