My LCD is dead as if the camera isn’t even on, and the EVF works fine,

Please someone tell me there is some kind of on/off switch that I don’t know about!

The camera was purchased in december, so it should still be under warranty, but i can’t be without a camera for even a week….

Has Anyone had an issue and had to take it up with the warranty department before?

    Thanks a million,
    Brian

If it’s a warranty claim, you have to have Sony do it. If not, there are instructions online, produced by Steve Cahill:

I hope it’s not inappropriate to post this, since it’s very helpful. I had to replace some parts in our flip-out but not the LCD panel itself. It was far easier to work on than replacing the rear EVF, which I did a couple of weeks ago.

If you do wrangle it yourself, that’s a good time to make sure that all the little screws holding the various pieces of the flip-out unit are tight. If they are not, the bezel can become fatigued and snap inside, giving you a floppy flipper 🙂 That happened to us.
