Does anyone have experience in syncing up two EX1s? I’m hoping to use them for an extensive documentary shoot, shooting two camera interviews, and need to devise a work flow that will make matching the interviews the least amount of work for the editor. We will be editing in FCP. thanks!

There is no way to physically sync the cameras. Just take along a photo flash and set it off just after you roll cameras. Then just sync to the flash-frame in your editor while enjoying the gorgeous rolling shutter effect.

Yeah, it’s quite strange to see that. BTW, As Chris has stated, the flash sync is the best way to do it, as a still camera flash lasts exactly one frame. Or you can use an audio sync at the beginning of each interview, like the banging together of a clapboard. Just like the old days.

Just don’t start and stop the cameras afterwards during the interview, unless they both stop.

You can use the time-of-day timecode setting, and set the two cameras to the same time, of course. While you cannot absolutely synchronize the time on the two cameras, if you are careful you can synchronize the time within a second or so. That will give a very easy way of finding the corresponding portion on the other take–just match the timecode. With the waveform visible on the soundtracks of the two takes, you can very easily then synchronize the two cameras precisely, even with start/stops on the two cameras at different places.
