December 19, 2007 at 10:48 pmCamera arrived today at noon and I am in total awe of what we have in front of us. We have 2 DSR300s that we are retiring and now I feel good about it.
This is one amazing piece of gear and it has none of the problems that turned me against the HVX200 the first time I saw on in action.

December 19, 2007 at 11:38 pmSounds like you got a pretty good deal, Raf. I paid $6999.00 CDN for just the camera. Don’t forget that Sony has a mail-in rebate for a free 8 gig card. Make sure your supplier gives you the Sony mail-in form when you get your camera.

December 20, 2007 at 1:37 amHi Rafa,
Looks like the Expandore package? Do they have them in stock? And do you know if we need to pay/book/reserve by the end of the year to get that free 8 gig card?
Thanks!
Joe

i have to look this of the SONY rebate. Normally those offers are only for the US and Canada. You don’t know how lucky you are over there.Joe,
Yes I’ve picked the Expandore offer. Now It doesn’t show up now in their web site, but you can reach it in this link:
https://www.expandore.biz/bproduct_detail.asp?productid=1760I know that they still have the camera in stock, but not extras batteries, Express cards etc.
I told them to hold the camera there till everything is ready. I wont to buy them an AJA IOHD and a LaCie BlueRay driver too. M wife will kill me when she will see my Christmast presents.
I will open a blog about:-)

What turned me off the first day was that the highlights went yellow above 100% and the blacks were noisy. I see none of that with the EX1.

I was about to buy an HDVX200 too. Thanks God this time I’ve been patient.
Otherwise probably now i would be posting in eBay instead of in the Cow.
Today I’ve shown to my wife the EX1 brochure to start to prepare her psicologically. However, after Christmast Eve, I’ll hide the big kitchen knives.

Me too. I was really excited about the HVX200 until I saw the issues. I won’t list them here but it wasn’t want I wanted to being patient wasn’t too difficult.

My wife is really excited about the camera. She has projects in mind already. We did shoot some video around the kitchen and when we examined the video she commented on how messy the kitchen looked. You can sure see a LOT of detail.

December 22, 2007 at 4:03 amHey thanks Rafa,
So I guess the big question is…
Are we going to be broadcast compatible with the EX? Who will accept it and maybe more important, who won’t?
Nat Geo?
Discovery?
BBC?
Euro broadcasters?
N American broadcasters? We’re focusing more on Nat History / Enviro / Factual TV stuff.
This is the main reason I’ve been holding out as long as humanly possible…
Thanks and happy holidays!
Joe
