EX1 Grain!! HELP!
I have read and re-read the forums and multiple other forums on the issue. I created an account because I could not find an answer that worked, and I am in need of a solution.
My problem is the EX1 keeps giving me grainy footage. I have shot great footage before, but now it seems to just be grainy.
I have changed and tried all the Picture profile settings and tried a sample with each to no avail. I lowered my gain to -3, I raised the knee to 80% and nothing I keep it bewteen 4 and 8stops as has been suggested. I have exported a small sample file for your viewing pleasure. Please take a look and let me know. Thanks in advanced.

What does that mean?
Reset the camera’s settings to factory defaults. Shoot some more footage and let us know is it’s still grainy.

The grain still appears, after a reset. Here is the file before the reset

You can notice the grain in the dark areas of the tripod. Any ideas please help.

For one thing you changed the lighting.
Doing the reset reduced it a great deal. You almost have to look for it.
Everything was factory default and the gain was at 0dB?

I shot the footage at 55kThen I reset everything and the gain went to 0db. The light difference was me white balancing the footage from 55k to 32k you saw. Still grain, It makes for bad keys, and I do alot of keying. I am very worried.

No, I saw that the direction of the lighting changed, not that that would have anything to do with the grain issue.
Unfortunately, looks like you need to send the camera in to Sony for a check up.

Im all for sending it in, but I just want to make sure its not a user error and more of a camera issue. Is there a second opinion I could get, possibly from a sales rep?
