  • EX1 File importing problems

I have been given a disk with a bunch of files with the .MP4 file extension. Neither quicktime, fcp, mpeg streamclip or anything can understand the files. However, after being told they came from a Sony EX1 I installed the XDCam Browser, FCP plugin and XDCam Transfer apps. Gone through using the Browser to recreate BPAV and all that. Some files work others dont. Some work in XDCAM then crash FCP on import (7.0.3)

Even the sony programs can’t deal with all the files. In fact the only program that seems to understand them is After Effects CS5. Drag Drop, file plays and exports to ProRes, no problem,

What am I doing wrong with FCP / Quicktime, or how can I resolve it? I can do it with After EFfects, but its very manual. I wanted a batch conversion.

For example, info from MediaInfo Mac for one of the files:

    Hi Declan,
Happens that the EX workflow is based on re-wrapping these MP4 from the original file structure.
Moving those MP4 is very easy to corrupt them.
When the “Clip Browser” doesn’t want to import an MP4 to rebuild a BPAV, there is only one way (that I know) to fix it and will cost you money.
Lucky you if you can convert them in PP.
