“Do you happen to know off hand the link or thread name?”

    Sure do.
    Can’t view XDCAM-EX files

joao, when I unzipped the file from Convergent Design, I got a file called FileConverter.msi and two PDFs.
I double-clicked the .msi file and the program installed.
Once that was done, I took an SD card that had an MOV file on it, put it into a card reader, plugged it into my computer, ran File Converter, browsed to the folder on the SD card with the file on it, chose a destination folder on my computer, told it to convert and got an MXF file in the destination folder.

I can’t run file convertor. it gives me an error and asks me to point to a program to open it.
Maybe it is java related, will check it out ans post back.
    thanks

    I get the error saying:

    “Windows cannot open this file:
    File: FileConverter.jar”

    From the FileConverter website:

“Note that with the PC version, if windows reports “Can not open java .jar file”, please install: Java Runtime Environment”.

I have installed it (versions 6 update 24), installed 2 older versions that were on my pc, but still get the same error message. Also tried uninstalling FileConverter several times and nothing.

    What else can I try?

    kind regards

    Joao

All I can think of is is to re-boot your computer after installing Java and before installing anything else.
