EX1 cant focus at far distance
We have the sony ex1, and I just found out that whenever I try to zoom in to a far subject about 100 meters, I cannot focus it. i tried doing an auto-focus, still the camera cant. Is there a problem with the lens? Can I resolve this?

The experts will forgive me if I say something wrong, but I think that at at full zoom no one camera can makes a perfect focus.

We have both ex1 and ex3, I tried a comparison with the two, focusing the same subject at a far. The ex1 seems to have problem with the lens, It didnt focus, while the ex3 focused the subject perfectly.

Sounds like a backfocus issue. If you can’t fix by resetting backfocus return camera to dealer or Sony for repair.

If the flange back adjustment doesn’t solve your issue you’ll have to send it in to Sony or one of their authorized repair facilities.

Ok, I think something is wrong with lens itself. Thanks guys for the help! 🙂

Check the external ring which holds the elements together, if this gets loose you will have this problem. It normally will have a few dots of glue around the edge but they sometimes break loose and the ring will slowly loosen letting the elements move forward and effect focus

I was having this exact same problem today – not being able to get a sharp focus at full zoom – and sure enough, just as Jared suggested, my front element ring was about 2 turns loose! Snugged it up and all is back to normal.
