EX1 and Adobe Onlocation (?)
Posted by Russell Robertson on March 18, 2010 at 8:54 pmToday I finally receive my Sony E1! My wife said it arrived, can’t wait to get home.
I’ve looked around a bit on the web/different forums, but can’t seem to confirm if the EX1 can be used with Adobe Onlocation. Is it possible in any/all HD modes? If not, SD modes?
Thanks in advance for any comments, suggestions.

March 18, 2010 at 9:03 pmOn location will not work w/ ex1 or ex3 in HD (HD cannot come from the firewire port)
It will only work in sd from firewire, and you have to go into the camera menu to turn it on. -

March 20, 2010 at 11:20 pmActually that’s not quite true. I use it all the time with my EX3 – you have to set recording modes to SP and the camera will output HDV over the firewire connection, which OnLocation supports. It makes a good field monitor in a pinch, and is a big help as a scope.
Thanks,
Brent

I have an EX1 so it might be different…if you set to ‘SD recording’ wouldn’t it be outputting DV? HDV would still be hi def…
Not a challenge, but a question…

March 24, 2010 at 5:17 pmSP, not SD. As far as I know there’s no way to get SD out of the camera except through the analog I/O. Shooting in an SP mode will set the Firewire output to HDV format. It might do the same for the HQ modes too – I’ve never tried it. As you said though it may be different for the EX1.

You have SD from the SDI and Components out.
